Burton Helps You Help Yourself

When hiring Burton, you are not just hiring one individual, you’re getting a team of energy, water, analytics, and procurement professionals that are all working towards one goal – reducing energy/water usage and operating costs for your portfolio.

Below are just some of the Energy Manager support services we offer.

  • Apply the 80/20 rule to your energy portfolio by investigating energy anomalies, exceptions, and outliers such as high usage, unexplained usage spikes, large decreases, etc.
  • Customized performance reporting and ad hoc reporting such as historical usage, demand profiles, etc.

Multi-Site Issue Resolution Services

  • Management of issues such as billing exceptions, utility shut-offs, utility correspondence, authorization forms, backflow notice management, etc.
  • Tailored monthly reporting such as deposit reconciliation, open/close, late fees, waste/recycling.

Yearly Rate Analysis

  • Review the largest utilities impacting the portfolio and ensure that sites are on the appropriate utility rate and tariff.
  • Many municipalities are now requiring property owners and leased tenants to submit mandatory annual energy benchmarking reports. We can ensure annual compliance on a national basis.
  • Automated benchmarking and scalable, efficient P.E. verifications for locations eligible for ENERGY STAR® certification.

Openings, Closings, Deposits

  • Manage opening and closings seamlessly from beginning to end. We can work directly with your general contractors, project managers, and utilities and even create process documents for openings and closings.

Energy and Water Reduction Programs

Burton will work to understand existing conditions, previously installed efficiency measures, lease structures, and asset type across the portfolio with the objective of identifying and quantifying opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce operating expense. This may include:

  • Creation of a proactive HVAC retrofit or replacement strategy.
  • Development of an LED upgrade strategy for accurate lighting inventory and prioritization based on rates, incentives, hours, and facility size.
  • Identification of sites with irrigation and quantifying potential for weather-based controller upgrades or where it is recommended to remove/add irrigation meters.
  • Prioritization of utility incentive programs related to HVAC, refrigeration, or lighting that can be leveraged to offset capital upgrades.
  • Identify retro-commissioning or audit incentives that cover most, or all, of the cost of the audits
Comprehensive rollout support of upgrades such as LED’s, HVAC units, VFD’s, etc. Burton is flexible in our support and can work on a turnkey process or just certain components of a project. We have extensive experience working with corporate teams that include finance, real estate, construction, legal, facilities, and bill pay partners.
