If the allocation of U.S. budget funds gives us an idea of how the federal government prioritizes the needs of the American public, then the issue of how we use and generate energy at home is becoming increasingly important.

The FY 2014 U.S. budget shows large increases in budgetary funds for the Department of Energy (over 50%!), research grants for renewable energies and clean technologies, as well as additional funds for infrastructure maintenance and new construction.
