The team at Burton Energy Group is looking forward to another year of volunteering at the Peachtree Dunwoody Ronald McDonald House. We closed out 2017 with a great supply drive, delivering boxes that were overflowing with cookie sheets, paper towels, paper goods, juice boxes and other needed items. Many members of the team also enjoyed cooking a warm, comforting meal of wholesome soups, macaroni and cheese, salad, bread, and dessert. Kay, one of our Procurement Managers, orchestrated our final menu, ingredients and cooking teams. After reviewing various recipes that were submitted by employees, Kay narrowed it down to chicken tortilla soup, baked potato soup, and vegetable beef soup, with all of the extra trimmings needed for each kind of soup. The Burton volunteers were divided into soup teams, and a mac-and-cheese team, with fresh ingredients being sliced, diced, chopped, and sautéed and turned into delicious soups. While some of the kids skipped straight to the mac-and-cheese, the parents and adults were appreciative of the homemade comfort food, with many coming back for second helpings. The staff at the Peachtree Dunwoody Ronald McDonald House is always a pleasure to work with and the team at Burton Energy Group is appreciative of the opportunities to come serve a home cooked meal to the families staying, while hopefully providing a few moments of peace. We are eager to be returning for more evenings in 2018!
