At Burton Energy Group, we’re proud to spotlight the talented individuals who make our team exceptional. This month, we’re excited to introduce you to Roby Kerr, a Sr. Energy Engineer whose passion for energy efficiency is matched only by his love for music. If you happen to be in the greater Atlanta area and venture out to a live music venue, chances are you may see a Burton family engineer on stage.
Roby joined the Burton Energy Group over (7) years ago, bringing with him a wealth of experience in HVAC energy optimization across a wide range of facilities. A graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, Roby holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and has spent his career helping clients reduce energy consumption and improve building operational efficiency.
But Roby’s talents don’t stop at engineering. At the age of 14, he picked up a guitar and began a musical journey that would evolve into a vibrant part of his life. Over time, he discovered a natural gift for singing, and today, he performs as a guitarist and vocalist in three different bands – working energy calculations during the day and working the crowds at night in some of Atlanta’s hottest clubs and music venues.
While he once focused mainly on playing guitar, Roby now finds even greater joy in singing, captivating audiences with his voice and stage presence. Whether he’s optimizing HVAC systems during the week or performing on stage over the weekend, Roby brings energy, creativity, and dedication to everything he does.
We’re lucky to have Roby on our team and admire the way he blends technical expertise with artistic expression. His story is a great reminder that passion and performance—whether in engineering or music—can go hand in hand.
