Company History
Burton Energy Group was established in 2001 to provide comprehensive energy management services. Their first client was one of the largest hotel owners in the industry, providing Burton with an intricate base knowledge of the hospitality sector and a platform to develop energy-related metrics specifically for hoteliers.
The formation of the company paralled the growth of energy deregulation, allowing hotels in many states to shop for an energy supplier with prices more competitive than their local utility. During this period natural gas and electricity were escalating to historically high prices and the energy market was increasingly volatile. Commodity procurement and risk management advisory services were utilized to neutralize this volatility.
To augment commodity procurement and provide a portfolio of energy management solutions, Burton added utility bill management, energy and water conservation, utility budgeting and energy auditing services. Hoteliers now had critical billing and budgeting assistance in addition to supply and demand side programs, all built around the needs of hospitality concerns.
Today Burton is a leader in hospitality energy management, providing cost reduction and risk management solutions for real estate investment trusts, owners and managers of most major hotel brands.
