Staples Wins ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year
Roswell, GA – It was announced March 14th, 2011 that Staples Inc., one of Burton Energy Group's most innovative energy clients, was awarded the prestigious 2011 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Award for Energy Management. This comes just a few months after Staples was recognized as an ENERGY STAR Leader for a 10% reduction in energy usage. Staples was the first non-grocery retailer ever to be recognized as an ENERGY STAR Leader and one of the few companies to ever be chosen for both awards in the same year.
Burton Energy Group is proud to ha
ve played a key role in helping Staples achieve this award. Several of the highlights of Burton's involvement include:
- Establishing the EPA ENERGY STAR benchmark as a standard by which Staples measures their portfolio energy efficiency as part of the Strategic Energy Assessment process, and helping to establish their current goal of 500 ENERGY STAR sites by 2012.
- Surveying sites to gather the necessary information to complete the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager Ratings.
- Personally visiting locations and providing a P.E. stamp to verify the integrity of the site data and energy performance information.
- Working with Staples on their ENERGY STAR Partner application and ways to incorporate ENERGY STAR tools and resources into their program.
- Assisting Staples leadership on the communication of the ENERGY STAR program to associates and customers.
- Helping to establishing and deploy usage reduction strategies to achieve their commitment of 500 ENERGY STAR Locations.
