2011 Sandwich Count Crushes Previous PB&J Day Record
Roswell, GA – Just as the Burton Energy Group team grows, so does the sandwich count during the 2011 PB&J Day. For the eleventh consecutive year, Landmark Restorations, Ltd. and Burton Energy Group employees came together in December 2011 in a labor of love to help several of Atlanta's homeless shelters.
Landmark Restorations, Ltd. expertly coordinates the "PB&J Day" event each year and enlists volunteers to help make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The sandwiches are then distributed by Landmark employees to the area's churches and organizations working with displaced families and children. The Burton team looks forward each year to spending a day making sandwiches together. According to Brent Burton, managing partner at Burton Energy Group, "Our goal for 2011 was to crush last year's record of 7,247 sandwiches - and we did it in record time." With many new employees joining in the effort, the team made over 10,000 sandwiches in one day.
"We are proud to sponsor and support this worthy cause for our community," said Frank Thomas, Founder/President of Landmark Restorations, Ltd., and host of PB&J Day festivities. "I am ecstatic about this year's sandwich count. Because of our gracious volunteers and our tremendous staff, we made a total of 20,549 sandwiches for the various Atlanta shelters. That's over 4,000 more than last year."
The event grows and improves year over year. The biggest addition for 2011 was the onsite massage therapists. Massages for sore necks and shoulders were the talk of the PB&J Day volunteers. "We strive to improve the event each and every year," said Thomas, "and 2012 will be no different."
